Industrial Relations and Personnel Management is a full-time one-year diploma course offered. Human resources management and industrial relations often represent adversarial positions in a union workplace, Industrial relations a term synonymous with labour relations refers to matters that affect union employees.

However, HR management and industrial relations must coexist within the workplace. Human Resource Management (HRM) earlier known as personnel management or labour welfare and industrial relations, is a highly competitive and sought-after profession in the field of management.

Eligibility Criteria for Industrial Relations and Personnel Management (IRPM)

1. Candidate must have also English as one of the subjects at graduation level.

2. However, candidates who have graduated with English as a medium of Instruction and are not having English as one of the subjects at graduation are also eligible to apply for the course.

3. Candidates must have done undergraduate from a college or a university which has been recognized by UGC i.e. University Grant Commission.

4. Candidates should have secured a minimum aggregate score of 45% or more in subjects.

Admission Process 

1. Colleges publish notice of admission on their website from June when most Indian universities would have finished degree exams.

2. Candidate to apply for each college, as each college considers each mark the cut-off mark.

3. Some private colleges and deemed universities perform their counselling process by conducting their university-level entrance exams.

4. Some colleges require a minimum of 50% aggregate in the qualifying examination.

5. Candidates who qualify for the test are called for an interview before the final seat allotment.

Career after Industrial Relations and Personnel Management (IRPM)

The course provides basic knowledge and skills needed for the understanding and analysis of problems related to the management of people at work in industrial, commercial, public and other humanitarian organizations. The course is career-orienting in nature that provides many jobs in various fields both government and private.

After passing the Master’s Degree course, they can also go for further research studies so as to add extra weightage to an academic qualification. They have also opportunities that exist in industrial and other sectors both public and private for which they can go. Candidates can work in materials production, development, and research in the industrial sector, or as materials experts in high-level consultancy and management positions.
